1. How ReclipIt handles content
ReclipIt is editing software. Our users add videos, by uploading a file or by giving a link, and ReclipIt creates short clips from them for that user.
- Projects are private. Videos and clips in ReclipIt are only visible to the account that created them. ReclipIt doesn’t publish clips or post them anywhere, and doesn’t make them available to other users or the public. The one exception is Recently Reclipped (below), which can show a few public details of a source video, never the video itself or its clips.
- YouTube Tools. ReclipIt also offers YouTube Tools: a transcript, a summary and a downloader for YouTube videos. Their results are shown only to the account that uses them.
- Content is kept for a limited time. Source videos are deleted 7 days after a project was last used, clips 30 days after they were created, and files from the downloader 24 hours after they were created (see our Privacy Policy, section 9).
- We don’t check content in advance. Users promise that they’re allowed to use the videos they add (see our Terms of Service, section 5). We act on reports we receive and on problems we otherwise become aware of.
Recently Reclipped. Recently Reclipped is a public showcase on our website of YouTube videos that have been clipped with ReclipIt. It can also show examples made by the ReclipIt team. An account’s videos appear in it only if the account owner turns on “Show my clips in Recently Reclipped” on the Account page in the app. The setting is off unless they turn it on.
- What it shows: only the title, channel name, public YouTube thumbnail and duration of eligible public YouTube videos (our Terms of Service, section 6.6, explains which videos are eligible). It never shows who clipped a video, and never shows the clips.
- Turning it off: when the account owner turns the setting off, that account’s projects are left out of Recently Reclipped from the next time it loads. Pages already loaded in someone’s browser, and screenshots or copies that others have made, may still show them.
- No permission or endorsement: showing a video in Recently Reclipped doesn’t transfer any rights in it, doesn’t mean that anyone may reuse it, and doesn’t mean that its creator is connected with ReclipIt or endorses it.
Because clips are private, you’ll usually come across a clip made with ReclipIt after someone has published it on another platform. Section 7 explains what to do in that case.
2. Report illegal content
Anyone can report content on ReclipIt that they believe is illegal, including content that infringes copyright or other rights. You don’t need a ReclipIt account.
How to report. Email support@reclipit.io with the subject “Content report”.
What to include. Your report helps us most when it contains:
- Why you believe the content is illegal: a clear explanation. For copyright, identify the work you believe is infringed and the rights you hold, or on whose behalf you act.
- Where the content is: because projects are private, you usually can’t give us a ReclipIt link. Give us whatever identifies it, for example:
- the link to the original video that was used (such as a YouTube link);
- the link to a clip published elsewhere that you believe was made with ReclipIt;
- any other details that help us find it, such as the title, channel, account or date.
- Your name and email address, so we can confirm receipt and tell you our decision. If your report concerns child sexual abuse material, you can report without giving your name.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your report is accurate and complete.
We may ask you for more information if we can’t identify the content or assess the report without it.
Personal data. If you appear in a video and want us to stop processing your personal data, you can also use your data protection rights (see our Privacy Policy, sections 4 and 11).
3. Copyright notices under US law
If you’re a copyright owner, or authorised to act for one, you can send us a copyright notice about content on ReclipIt, including a notice under US copyright law. Email it to support@reclipit.io with the subject “Copyright notice”.
Please include the information listed in section 2, your contact details and your physical or electronic signature. We review copyright notices in the same way as other reports (section 4), and the user concerned can challenge our decision (section 5).
4. What happens after a report
- We confirm receipt of your report by email, without undue delay.
- We review it. A person reviews every report in a timely, careful and objective way. We don’t use automated systems to decide whether content is illegal or breaks our Terms. We may need to look at the content concerned to assess it.
- We decide. If we conclude that the content is illegal or breaks our Terms, we take proportionate action, for example stopping processing, deleting the affected project or clips, or restricting, suspending or closing the account (see our Terms of Service, section 10). We take into account the rights and interests of everyone involved, including freedom of expression. We may restrict content while we review a report.
- We tell you our decision by email, and how you can challenge it.
We may not be able to find content that has already been deleted under our normal deletion periods. In that case, we tell you.
5. If your content was restricted
Where the law requires it, we tell you by email when we restrict your content or account, for example when we delete a project or suspend an account. We explain:
- what we did and, where it applies, for how long;
- the facts and circumstances we relied on, including, where relevant, that we acted on a report. We share the reporter’s identity only where that’s necessary and lawful, for example for a claim about intellectual property rights;
- whether we acted because we consider the content illegal (and why) or because it breaks our Terms (and which part); and
- how you can challenge the decision.
We may not do this where the law prevents it, or where it would undermine an investigation or someone’s safety.
Challenging a decision. Reply to our message or email support@reclipit.io, explaining why you think the decision is wrong. A person reviews the decision again, taking your explanation into account, and we tell you the outcome. You can also take the matter to court.
6. Repeat infringement
In appropriate circumstances, we close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe other people’s rights. We decide this case by case, taking into account how often and how seriously the rights of others were infringed. We only take a report into account once we’ve reviewed it and concluded that the content infringed someone’s rights.
7. Content published elsewhere
ReclipIt doesn’t publish clips. If you found a clip on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or another platform, someone published it there, not ReclipIt, and we can’t remove it from that platform.
- To have it taken down, report it to the platform where it’s published, using that platform’s reporting tools, or contact the person who published it.
- You can also tell us if you believe the clip was made with ReclipIt (section 2). We can then check whether the source video is used in ReclipIt projects and act on the account under our Terms, but this doesn’t remove the published clip.
9. Misuse of the reporting process
Please only report content you believe in good faith is illegal or infringes rights.
- If someone frequently sends reports that are clearly unfounded, we may, after a warning, stop handling their reports for a reasonable period.
- If a user frequently adds clearly illegal content, we may, after a warning, suspend their account (see our Terms of Service, section 10).
Sending a knowingly false report may also make you liable under the law.
