1. Who we are
ReclipIt is operated by LeksCo, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered in the Netherlands with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 92728960, VAT ID NL004973705B94, address Jacob Obrechtlaan 59, 2132 KT Hoofddorp, Netherlands (“we”, “us”).
For most of the processing in this policy, we’re the controller: we decide why and how the data is used. Section 4 explains when we process data on behalf of our customers instead.
For anything about your personal data, email us at support@reclipit.io.
2. What we collect
Account information.
- What we store: the email address you sign in with and an internal account ID.
- How you sign in: with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with your Google account. We don’t use passwords.
- What our sign-in provider, Clerk, stores:
- your email address;
- the name you enter when you create an account with an email code;
- if you sign in with Google, the profile information Google shares under the permissions you approve on Google’s screen, such as your name, email address and profile picture.
Sign-in records. Clerk keeps records of your sign-in sessions, such as when you signed in and technical details like your IP address and the browser and device you used, to keep your account secure.
Projects. For each video you work on:
- the video’s title;
- its YouTube video ID (for a link) or a digital fingerprint of the file (for an upload);
- your settings and choices, such as clip mode, video style and selected stories;
- the project’s status and when things happened.
Your videos and what we create from them. The videos you upload or link and their audio, the transcript, stories, clip plans, still frames, captions, titles, descriptions and hooks, and the finished clips. Section 3 explains this in more detail.
Payments and credits.
- Your plan, its status and billing period.
- The reference numbers our payment provider uses for you and your subscription.
- A record of your credits: what you received, reserved, used, got back or lost.
We don’t receive or store your card or bank details. Our payment provider, Whop, handles them.
Free preview. Whether you’ve used your free preview, and a coded version (a hash) of your email address. The hash lets us recognise the same email address so it can’t get a second free preview.
YouTube Tools. Which tool you used, for which YouTube video, when, and whether the use was free or how many credits it cost.
Withdrawal requests. If you use our withdrawal form: your name, email address and the order or purchase reference you enter, when we received the request, your account if you were signed in, and whether our emails about it were sent.
Recently Reclipped. Whether you’ve turned on “Show my clips in Recently Reclipped” and, while it’s on, when you turned it on (section 3).
Technical and security information.
- IP addresses: we use the IP address your requests come from to limit how much an account or connection can do in a given period, for example how many free previews can be started from one connection per day.
- Internal service events: we record events such as how long a processing step took, whether it failed and how much processing it used. These are linked to an internal project or account ID, not to your email address.
Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your message, your email address and anything you include.
We don’t use advertising or analytics tools, and we don’t buy data about you from others.
3. Your videos and the content you link
When you upload a video or provide a YouTube link, we process:
- the video itself: an uploaded file, or for a link, the video, its audio and its public information (such as the title and channel name) that we retrieve from YouTube;
- what we create from it: the audio track, a transcript, the stories we find, still frames, clip plans and the clips we render, with their captions, titles, descriptions and hooks.
We use this to provide the Service: to show you the stories, create the clips you ask for, let you watch and download them, and handle questions or reports about them.
Your projects are private to your account. We don’t publish them, show them to other users or post them anywhere for you. The one exception is Recently Reclipped, which is off unless you turn it on.
Recently Reclipped. Recently Reclipped is a public showcase on our website of YouTube videos that have been clipped with ReclipIt. It can also show examples made by the ReclipIt team. Your videos appear in it only if you turn on “Show my clips in Recently Reclipped” on the Account page in the app. The setting applies to your whole account, including projects you created before you turned it on.
- Which videos: a project can appear only if its source is a YouTube video that, when you added it, was public, had at least 100,000 views and wasn’t age-restricted, and at least one final clip has been rendered from it, including in a free preview. Videos that were private, unlisted, age-restricted, live or upcoming at that time, and uploaded files, are never included.
- What is shown: only the video’s title, channel name, public YouTube thumbnail and duration.
- What stays private: your name, email address, account and project IDs, other project details and your clips. Nothing shown says who clipped the video.
- Turning it off: you can turn the setting off on the Account page at any time. When you do, or when a project or your account is deleted, the affected projects are left out of Recently Reclipped from the next time it loads. The same video can still appear if another account that has turned the setting on has clipped it, or if it’s one of our own examples. We can’t remove it from pages already loaded in someone’s browser or from screenshots or copies that others have made.
YouTube Tools. When you use a YouTube Tool, we retrieve the requested video or its information from YouTube and create the result. To avoid repeating the same work, we keep results by video, not by person, and reuse them when anyone asks about the same video. A transcript or summary of a public video may therefore be kept after you stop using it (section 9). Once your account is closed, it’s no longer linked to you.
4. People who appear in videos
Videos usually show or mention other people: speakers, guests, people in the background or people named in conversation. When you add a video, we process the personal data in it, such as their image, voice, name and what they say.
Who is responsible for that data depends on the purpose and on how ReclipIt is used.
When we create clips for you
You choose which videos to add and which clips to create. We process the people in those videos only to carry out those choices.
- If you decide why the personal data in your videos is used, you’re responsible for that personal data under data protection law, and we process it on your behalf, following your instructions. This is the case, for example, when you use ReclipIt for your business, for clients or for an organisation, or to make clips you publish.
- If you use ReclipIt purely for personal purposes, data protection law generally doesn’t apply to your own use. In that case, we’re responsible for how we process the data to provide the Service you asked for.
Whichever applies, you remain responsible for how you use and publish your clips. Before you add a video, make sure you’re allowed to use it, including any consent the law requires from the people in it (see our Terms of Service, sections 5 and 8).
Our own purposes
We decide why and how the data is used, and are responsible for it, when we process it to:
- show the public details of a video in Recently Reclipped, where a customer who clipped it has turned that on (section 3);
- keep the Service secure and prevent misuse;
- handle reports, complaints and legal claims;
- meet our legal obligations.
How we limit this processing
- We don’t identify people, build profiles of them or recognise faces.
- We don’t use their data for any purpose other than those described here.
- We delete source videos and clips after the periods in section 9.
If you appear in a video processed with ReclipIt
- You have the rights in section 11. Because we can’t reliably know who appears in a video, we can’t inform each person individually. This policy is how we inform you about our own processing.
- To make a request, email support@reclipit.io with enough detail for us to find the video, such as its link or title.
- Where we process the video on behalf of a customer, we’ll pass your request to that customer or help them answer it. Where we’re responsible ourselves, we’ll answer it directly.
- If you want a clip removed from another platform, contact that platform or the person who published it. We don’t control content published outside ReclipIt (see Copyright & Content Reports).
5. Why we use your data, and our legal bases

People who appear in videos
- Create clips on a customer’s behalf, where the customer decides why the data is used (section 4).
Legal basis: we act only on the customer’s instructions. The customer is responsible for having a legal basis for this processing. - Create clips where we’re responsible because the customer uses ReclipIt purely for personal purposes (section 4).
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing the editing service the customer asked for, limited to creating the clips and the deletion periods in section 9. - Show the public details of a video in Recently Reclipped (section 3).
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing how ReclipIt is used, limited to the title, channel name, thumbnail and duration that the video already shows publicly on YouTube. - Keep the Service secure and prevent misuse.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the Service secure. - Handle reports about content, and requests from authorities.
Legal basis: legal obligation (such as the EU Digital Services Act); our legitimate interest in protecting the rights of the people concerned and of rights holders. - Establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our rights.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve weighed them against the interests and rights of the people concerned. You can object at any time (section 11).
We don’t send marketing emails.
We don’t make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing.
6. AI processing
ReclipIt uses AI services to transcribe the speech in your videos and to find stories, plan clips and write captions, titles, descriptions and hooks. Two types of AI service providers do this on our behalf (section 7):
- A speech-to-text provider receives the audio of your video and returns a transcript.
- An AI language-model provider receives the transcript and information about the video, such as its title, and returns the analysis and the written texts.
What we ask these providers to do with your data.
- Speech-to-text provider: after we’ve saved the transcript, we send the provider a request to delete the transcription.
- AI language-model provider: we instruct it not to keep the requests and responses in its service.
What providers may keep on their side.
- To run their service: a provider may hold data for as long as it needs to process a request, and until it has completed our deletion request, under its own terms. It may also keep limited records, such as usage information for billing.
- For security and abuse prevention: our AI language-model provider may keep data for up to 30 days to detect and prevent abuse of its service, unless the law requires it to keep data longer.
Model training. We use third-party AI providers to process your videos. Depending on a provider’s terms, the audio and transcripts it receives may also be used to improve its models. Our speech-to-text provider’s current terms allow this. Our AI language-model provider’s standard business terms say that it doesn’t use the data we send it to train its models. We can’t guarantee that all the content we send is excluded from model training, and our deletion requests don’t necessarily remove data that a provider has already used for this.
What the AI doesn’t do. It doesn’t recognise faces or identify the people in your videos.
AI can be wrong. The results are generated automatically and can contain mistakes, so review your clips before publishing them (see our Terms of Service, section 7).
7. Who receives your data
We share personal data only with the recipients below, and only as far as needed for the purposes in this policy.
- Cloud hosting provider: runs our servers and stores our data, on our behalf.
Location: Europe (the European Union or the United Kingdom). - Website hosting provider: delivers our website, reclipit.io, from its global network, on our behalf. It receives your IP address and browser details when you visit the website. The ReclipIt app and your projects aren’t hosted there.
Location: United States, with servers worldwide. - Clerk: sign-in (email codes and Google) and sign-in sessions, on our behalf. Clerk’s sign-in service runs behind Cloudflare, which protects it against bots and abuse and receives your IP address and browser details when you sign in.
Location: United States (Cloudflare: worldwide). - Whop: checkout, payments, subscriptions, receipts and fraud prevention. Whop handles your payment details under its own terms and privacy policy.
Location: United States. - Network provider for YouTube retrieval: when we retrieve a video from a YouTube link you give us, our server connects to YouTube through this provider’s network, on our behalf. The connections are encrypted, so the provider sees which YouTube servers we connect to, but not which video or its content, and it receives nothing about your account.
Location: European Union. - Speech-to-text provider: transcribes the audio of your videos, on our behalf. Under its terms, it may also use this data to improve its own models (section 6).
Location: United States. - AI language-model provider: analyses transcripts and writes stories, captions, titles, descriptions and hooks, on our behalf.
Location: United States. - Email delivery provider: sends internal service alerts to us, which contain internal IDs, not your email address. It also sends the emails about a withdrawal request, to us and to you, which contain your name, email address and the order reference you entered. When you use our contact form, it delivers your message to our support mailbox, with the email address, subject and message you entered.
Location: United States. - Google: if you sign in with Google, Google shares your profile information with Clerk, under Google’s own privacy policy. If you paste a YouTube link, your browser loads the video’s thumbnail image directly from YouTube’s image servers, so YouTube receives your IP address and browser details. Thumbnails shown in Recently Reclipped are loaded the same way.
Location: worldwide.
We may also share personal data:
- publicly, in Recently Reclipped, only if you turn it on, and only the video details described in section 3, never anything that identifies you;
- with rights holders, people who report content, or authorities, where the law requires it or where it’s needed to handle a report (see Copyright & Content Reports);
- with authorities, courts or professional advisers, where we must by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims;
- with a company that takes over ReclipIt or the relevant part of our business, under this policy. We’ll tell you in advance.
We don’t sell your personal data and don’t share it for advertising.
You can ask us at any time for the names of the providers that process your data (section 11).
8. International transfers
Several of the providers in section 7 are based in the United States, so your personal data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
Under EU law, such a transfer must be protected by one of these:
- an adequacy decision of the European Commission, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for companies certified under it; or
- the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with extra safeguards where needed.
According to our providers’ published terms:
- Clerk and our email delivery provider rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and their data processing terms also include Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Our speech-to-text provider relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where it’s certified under it, and otherwise on Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Our AI language-model provider serves customers in the EEA through its entity in Ireland, which uses Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision for transfers outside the EEA.
- Whop uses the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or another approved safeguard.
- Our website hosting provider and Cloudflare rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and their data processing terms also include Standard Contractual Clauses.
Where our servers are in the United Kingdom, that’s covered by the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the United Kingdom.
You can ask us at support@reclipit.io which safeguard applies to a provider and how to get a copy of it.
9. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it, and some data is deleted automatically. ReclipIt isn’t a storage service: download the clips you want to keep.
Deleted automatically
- Uploaded videos that you never start a generation for: 24 hours after upload.
- Source videos and their audio: 7 days after the project was last used.
- Finished clips, including free-preview clips: 30 days after each clip was created.
- Files from the YouTube downloader tool: 24 hours after they were created.
- Usage-limit records that contain IP addresses: usually within 2 days; records for monthly limits within about 40 days.
- Payment notifications we receive from Whop, which can contain your name and email address: as soon as we’ve processed them. A notification we couldn’t process is kept until we’ve resolved it.
Kept until your account is closed
- Account information (email address, account ID): when your account is closed, we replace your email address so our records no longer identify you.
- Transcripts, stories, titles, still frames and other project records: you can ask us to delete a project sooner (section 10).
- Your YouTube Tools history: deleted when your account is closed.
- Your Recently Reclipped setting: while it’s on, we keep when you turned it on. We clear this when you turn it off or your account is closed.
- Your sign-in account at Clerk: we delete it when we close your account (section 10).
Kept without a set end date at the moment
We don’t currently delete these records automatically:
- Payment, subscription and credit records: we must keep them at least as long as Dutch tax law requires. After your account is closed, they’re no longer linked to your email address, but they still contain the reference numbers our payment provider uses.
- Hashed email address of a used free preview: kept after your account is closed, so the same email address can’t get a second free preview.
- YouTube Tools results (transcripts and summaries of YouTube videos): kept by video and reused for requests about the same video. Not linked to you after your account is closed.
- Internal service events and alerts: contain internal IDs only, not your email address.
- Emails you send us: kept in our support mailbox.
- Withdrawal requests: kept as a record of what was asked and when, including after your account is closed.
- Content reports and our decisions: kept in our records of reports.
You can ask us to delete records about you in this group (section 11). We’ll do so unless we must keep them, for example for tax purposes or a dispute.
Kept longer for legal reasons
We may keep data longer where the law requires it, or where it’s needed for a dispute, a report under review or a request from an authority. Where we keep backup copies for security and recovery, deleted data can remain in them until those copies are replaced.
10. Deleting your data and closing your account
You can’t delete projects or close your account in the app. We handle these requests by hand.
- Deleting a project sooner. Email us at support@reclipit.io from your account email address and tell us which project. Otherwise, source videos and clips are deleted automatically after the periods in section 9.
- Closing your account. Email us at support@reclipit.io from your account email address. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first (see Billing, Cancellation & Refunds) or ask us to cancel it for you.
- What we delete when we close your account:
- your projects, including videos, transcripts and clips;
- your YouTube Tools history, your Recently Reclipped setting, your sign-in sessions, your link to Clerk, the reference linking you to your payments, and your usage-limit records;
- your email address in our account records, which we replace so they no longer identify you;
- your sign-in account at Clerk.
- What we keep. The records in section 9 under “Kept without a set end date at the moment” and “Kept longer for legal reasons”, such as payment and credit records we must keep for tax purposes and the hashed email address of a used free preview.
We complete your request within the time limits in section 11. Whop keeps its own records of your payments under its own privacy policy.
11. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy, including the names of the recipients of your data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- erase your data;
- restrict our use of your data;
- receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used format (portability);
- object to our use of your data based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent. For Recently Reclipped, you can do this yourself by turning the setting off on the Account page.
To use these rights, email support@reclipit.io.
- Identity: we may need to confirm your identity first, for example by asking you to write from your account email address.
- Timing: we reply within one month. In complex cases we can extend this by up to two more months, and we’ll tell you why.
Some rights have limits. For example, we can’t delete records we must keep for tax purposes, and we may keep data needed for a dispute or a report under review. Where we process data on behalf of a customer (section 4), we’ll pass your request to that customer or help them answer it.
What you need to give us. You need to give us an email address to create a ReclipIt account. Without it, we can’t provide the Service. Everything else you add, such as videos, is up to you.
Complaints. You have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). You can also complain to the authority in the EU country where you live, where you work, or where you believe your rights were infringed. We’d appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
13. Security
We protect personal data with technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including:
- encrypted connections;
- sign-in without passwords;
- access controls so that each project is available only to its own account;
- the automatic deletion periods in section 9.
No system is completely secure. If a data breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we’ll inform you and the authorities as the law requires. See also Security & Data.
14. Children
ReclipIt is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us at support@reclipit.io and we’ll delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our Service, our providers or the law change. We show the date of the latest version at the top. If we make important changes, we’ll tell you in advance by email to the address linked to your account.
16. Contact and complaints
For questions or requests about personal data, email support@reclipit.io.
ReclipIt is operated by LeksCo, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered in the Netherlands, KvK 92728960. Our full business details are in our Terms of Service, section 19.
If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or to another data protection authority (section 11).
